Easy Redmine is a powerful project management tool that offers a wider range of features than Jira, which can be quite expensive for small and medium-sized teams. In this article, we will compare the pricing of Easy Redmine with Jira and show you how it can offer a better value for your money and your team's needs.

Atlassian is canceling its Jira Server support. This forces Jira users to accept Atlassian’s preferred licensing models. Should users continue to the Cloud/Atlassian Data Center or simply look for alternatives? Is it still worth continuing with Atlassian?

Jira and Easy Redmine price comparison

In the following article, we will show you several cases in which we compare Jira and Easy Redmine’s total costs of ownership in the span of one, three, and five years.

For the purpose of our pricing comparison, we chose to use two different versions of Jira. The first version we analyzed is the standalone Jira Software, which is a project management tool offering features such as project and issue tracking, Agile boards, and customizable workflows.

The second version we examined is Jira Software with Confluence and BitBucket, which includes additional collaborative and code management features. Confluence is a web-based enterprise wiki and collaboration platform used to create, organize, and share knowledge and information within teams and organizations, while BitBucket is a code hosting and version control platform. We utilized both Jira Cloud and Data Center for the analysis.

On the other hand, we compare it to Easy Redmine, which besides Jira’s features offers a wider variety of project management tools such as Gantt charts, integrated time tracking, resource management, project tree structure, Work Breakdown Structure, and many more. For the comparison with Jira Software + Confluence + BitBucket, we use Easy Redmine + Knowledge base 2.0 + GitLab, Easy Redmine’s alternative for the aforementioned knowledge management and code repository.

Easy Redmine has many case solutions depending on the number of users and features you need, in this article we provided the most common cases that ask our clients.

Conclusion 1: Atlassian's pricing policy
is disadvantageous for most companies

As we can see, the pricing policy of Atlassian, represented by Jira Software (cloud) and Jira Data Center, appears to be disadvantageous for most companies when compared to Easy Redmine. With initial costs that thanks to Atlassian’s tiering policy are usually bigger than Easy Redmine and TCO which increase significantly over time, Jira Software (cloud) and Jira Data Center are more expensive options.

Meanwhile, Easy Redmine maintains its cost-effectiveness with a much lower TCO even after several years. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Atlassian's pricing policy is not the most favorable option for companies, making Easy Redmine a more budget-friendly choice. Why? Because when using Easy Redmine you pay for the exact number of users. This is especially visible for smaller and mid-sized teams.

Conclusion 2: Atlassian's on-premises solution
(Data Center) is extremely expensive.

The difference is even more apparent when we look at Jira Data Center. As we wrote before, Atlassian forces Jira users to accept Atlassian’s preferred licensing models with its extensive tiering policy. If you have less than 500 users, you will be paying the fixed price for the tier.

On the other hand, Easy Redmine offers a payment model per user increment. This can make a huge difference for smaller teams. Considering Easy Redmine offers more features and advanced project management tools in a single stack, it makes it a viable option for everyone looking to reduce their tooling costs.
