WorkOps and agentic AI: Prepare your team for 2029

TL;DR

Agentic AI is set to transform enterprise software within years—C-level leaders have just months to act, and Easy Redmine’s WorkOps framework is already leading the shift.

How agentic AI is transforming enterprise software

According to Gartner, agentic AI products are reshaping how humans interact with enterprise software, requiring C-level leaders to define their strategic response within a critical three- to six-month window. Enterprise applications will soon integrate multiple task-specific AI agents to handle low-value tasks, enabling humans to focus on high-impact activities.

These ecosystems of agents will evolve into dynamic systems that orchestrate complex workflows, redefine enterprise software as we know it, and establish a new normal in digital work environments.

Ruba Borno recently described this period as transformative. AI and AI agents aren’t just another tech trend. We are witnesses to one of the most significant shifts we’ve seen since the dawn of the internet. With generative AI and AI agents gaining traction, analysts estimate the opportunity could exceed $3 to $4 trillion for North America’s top 2,000 enterprises alone.

“When it comes to gen AI and agentic AI, no one can do it alone. It is a multiparty activity, a multiparty value proposition.”

Ruba Borno, Amazon Web Services

Timeline: Trend of agentic AI by Gartner

The evolution of agentic AI in the enterprise is projected to follow a staged adoption timeline:

  • By the end 2025, AI assistants for every application: By the end of this year, AI assistants—the precursors to agentic AI—will be embedded in almost every enterprise application. Gartner specifically estimates that AI assistants will be integrated into 80% of enterprise applications.
  • By 2026, task-specific agent applications: Integration of task-specific agents will increase significantly. 40% of enterprise apps are projected to be integrated with these agents, up from less than 5% currently.
  • By 2027, collaborative AI agents within an application: Agentic AI implementations will advance to complex tasks using collaborative agents. One-third of implementations are projected to use a combination of agents with different skills within application and data environments.
  • By 2028, AI agent ecosystems across multiple applications: AI agent ecosystems will necessitate a shift in how users interact with software. A third of the user experience is projected to shift from native applications to agentic front ends.
  • By 2029, “New normal” of enterprise applications: The "new normal" for democratized enterprise apps will be reached as the workforce adapts. At least 50% of knowledge workers will have developed new skills to deal with agents, govern them, and create them on demand for complex tasks.

C-level executives have a crucial three- to six-month window to finalize their strategy, investment level, and team structure regarding agentic AI products and services to remain competitive.

How Easy Redmine and Easy8.ai reflect agentic AI trend: WorkOps

AI adoption in our company is a real, C-level-led process to stay ahead of technology. We're already reshaping project management to move towards the next stage of AI maturity. As the next step the WorkOps framework is being implemented.

WorkOps is a new approach that redefines how teams coordinate people, workflows, and AI agents to get work done. Instead of managing fragmented tools and rigid processes, WorkOps introduces a unified environment where task-specific and collaborative agents continuously move work forward—across teams, tools, and time zones.

WorkOps framework by Easy Redmine

Easy Redmine and Easy8.ai are bringing this to life by embedding agentic AI capabilities directly into the daily flow of work:

  • 2025: AI assistants implemented in Easy Redmine Easy AI Assistants were introduced in 2024 to help teams summarise, generate, and automate routine work. These assistants reduce manual effort, making AI a real part of everyday workflows.
  • 2026: Automation Buttons in Easy Redmine with n8n AI agents - Automation Buttons, powered by task-specific agents built in n8n, were launched in 2025. These agents execute repetitive tasks directly in Easy Redmine, fully integrated into both Agile and Waterfall teams.
  • 2027: Continuous workflow lifecycle - From May 2025, Easy Redmine added native n8n node integration. This brought collaborative AI agents into multi-step workflows—one agent triggers another—enabling uninterrupted team handoffs and real AI-powered task orchestration.
  • 2028: Unified work & operations platform - With WorkOps, AI agents operate across full project and operations cycles via n8n automations. AI becomes central in every workflow loop, visualised in the WorkOps engine diagram, enabling seamless cross-app coordination.
  • 2029:  AI agent ecosystem adoption across the company - To fully benefit, every team must understand, adopt, and govern AI responsibly. There's no one-size-fits-all solution—only continuous education and cross-functional engagement will unlock the full potential of the AI agent ecosystem.

WorkOps and agentic AI: Prepare your team for 2029
