What is the difference between MES and SAP?

MES (Manufacturing Execution System) focuses on managing and optimising shop-floor production processes in real-time, from resource allocation to quality compliance. 

In contrast, SAP is a broad enterprise suite that includes ERP and can incorporate MES functionalities through modules like SAP ME and integration platforms such as SAP MII. 

While MES operates directly on the production floor, SAP provides enterprise-wide data visibility and coordination, often integrating with MES for a complete manufacturing overview.
